Fair Campaign Practices project

This project is intended to encourage positive campaign practices and healthy competition among candidates. All candidates registering with the Clark County Elections Office will be invited to sign the Code upon registration as a candidate.

The project has two components: The first is the Code of Ethics, which candidates are encouraged to sign. In the Code, candidates agree to conduct a campaign which focuses on the issues and candidate qualifications, and avoid unfair attacks on opponents and distortions or misrepresentations of fact.

The second component is the establishment of a Campaign Watch Committee. The Campaign Watch Committee includes community representatives with high standards of fairness and impartiality, as well as two members of the League of Women Voters of Clark County.

The committee acts as a judicial review board and will field complaints regarding alleged violations of the Code of Fair Campaign Practices. The committee will review the allegation, along with supporting documentation and a Response from the candidates, and make a decision on the charge. If the campaign practice is deemed unfair, the committee may release the information to the media.
