2026 Elder Caregiving

Bills in green are supported. Bills in red are opposed by the League. Bills in black the League is watching.

HB 2299 Establishes an independent living ombuds to support seniors living in independent living facilities and the independent living portion of continuing care retirement communities.
Prime sponsor Rep Reeves. Companion to
SB 5964. Proposes that the Department of Commerce contract with a private nonprofit organization through which individuals may have complaints about their senior living arrangements investigated. The ombuds would also provide reports and data.

SB 5968 Improving regulatory efficiency by integrating executive order 25-03, concerning permitting and licensing processes.

Prime sponsor Sen Krishnadasan. Companion to HB 2198. Focuses on credentials required for an individual, business or organization to engage in a regulated or commercial activity. Agencies with credentialing responsibilities shall track and record information for each credential application it receives or decisions it issues including processing times. This information is to be catalogued for posting to provide a complete picture of credential timeliness, fees, and process improvement efforts.

HB 2276 Improving the functioning of home care rate statutes.
Companion to
SB 6019. Details considerations and processes for establishing home care rates including the total amount of wages and benefits negotiated and funded in the contract for individual providers of home care services.

HB 2337 Training requirements for individual providers caring for a family member.
Maintains current law as it relates to provider training for individual providers caring only for their family members and repeals the requirement for those individual providers to complete certain training requirements that would otherwise take effect Jan 1, 2027.
